Jochem Auguste van Grunsven (1986) is a photographer born and based in Amsterdam whose work explores place, time, perception and the relationship between people and their environment. His photographs move between public space, landscape and everyday objects, often observing how people inhabit places and the traces they leave behind.
Working intuitively, he is drawn to fleeting moments of ambiguity, transition and quiet visual tension; moments when time and form briefly align. His practice spans unfamiliar environments and everyday spaces close to home, revealing worlds that feel within reach yet remain somehow distant.

Jochem followed courses in both media studies at The University of Amsterdam and photography at The Photo Academy of Amsterdam. He further developed his craft through hands-on experience assisting established fashion and advertising photographers.
Alongside his personal practice, he works with magazines, restaurants and brands on editorial and commercial assignments. His work has appeared in publications including ELLE, Vogue and i-D, while his culinary clients include El Celler de Can Roca, Kadeau, Mugaritz, Blue Hill Farm and Mérito. He occasionally writes stories to accompany his photographs.
